Late jazz icon Billie Holiday will be inducted into New York's fabled Apollo Theater's Walk of Fame next month (Apr15) on the eve of her 100th birthday.

The legendary God Bless the Child star would have celebrated her milestone age on 17 April (15) and theatre bosses are planning to mark the occasion with a series of special events in her honour.

Singer Cassandra Wilson, who is releasing an album of Holiday covers, will grace the same stage as her idol, an Apollo regular, on 10 April (15) for a tribute show.

The late musician will then be immortalised on the venue's Walk of Fame on 16 April (15).

Holiday died in 1959, at the age of 44.
