Billie Joe Armstrong, lead singer of punk-rock group Greenday has been kicked off a south-western flight from Oakland, California to Burbank, California on Thursday night (01.09.2011)
Announcing his surprise on Twitter the 39-year-old rocker said "Just got kicked off a Southwest flight because my pants sagged too low! What the f-? No joke!" An ABC producer was also on the flight when the incident occurred and described the event "A flight attendant approaches him and says, 'pull your pants up,' he says, 'don't you have better thing to do than worry about that?' and then the flight attendant says again, 'pull your pants up or you're getting off the plane.'" Following the bizarre episode Southwest Airlines issued a statement apologizing for the confusion "We reached out to apologize; we followed up...and understand from the customer the situation was resolved to his satisfaction."
California native Armstrong first began his music career at the age of 15 forming a band with his childhood friends until forming Greenday in 1986. The band has since gone onto to release 9 studio albums winning 6 Billboard Music Awards and selling over 65 million records worldwide. Their most successful album to date is 2004 release American Idiot, which reached number one in 19 countries selling 14 million copies worldwide.
