Black Eyed Peas star Apl.DE.AP is auctioning off a private studio session and a New Year's Eve party with his bandmate Fergie to raise money for schools in his native Philippines.
The rapper, an educational ambassador for the country, has launched CharityDreams.com, a website aimed at combining social networking, online gaming and philanthropy by encouraging fans to bid on the chance to join him in the recording studio and fly out to Las Vegas with 10 friends to celebrate the start of 2012 with Fergie.
The once-in-a-lifetime prize also includes a brand new Ferrari and $250,000 (£156,250) in cash.
But the sale is like no other - fans will place their bids by 'buying' virtual books, pencils, desks and chairs to build "virtual classrooms".
For each completed facility, a real classroom will be built in the Philippines to benefit local schoolchildren and apl.de.ap has high hopes for the venture.
He tells MTV.com, "Building virtual classrooms was the brainchild of Charity Dreams. So many people play games online, it's a huge business - and so harnessing the power of the Charity Dreams community to help build classrooms just made a lot of sense.
"I hope to build 10,000 classrooms in two years."
