Black Eyed Peas rapper Apl.DE.AP has opened a state-of-the-art media studio in his native Philippines to give locals the opportunity to learn the art of music production.
The Boom Boom Pow hitmaker, real name Allan Pineda, launched the apl.de.ap Music Studio and Library at his alma mater Holy Angel University on Wednesday (09Mar11).
He hopes the new facility will inspire students in the village of Barangay Sapang Bato to get creative - and he's showing them how it's done after being inspired to write new song People Power.
Apl.de.ap reveals he will return to the Philippines in May (11) to film the track's video and he's donating all proceeds to charity.
He says, "The song is about less fortunate kids and how much they need support, like education, for their life to improve.
"I'll start shooting it when I come back in two months. I'll be working with the Sapang Bato kids on that project."
The song will raise money for the Filipinas Heritage Library.
