Fact: The fictional characters used in British Tv comedy Blackadder shared names with real-life soldiers. Military historians have discovered that Captain Blackadder, played by Rowan Atkinson and Lieutenant George, portrayed by Hugh Laurie actually fought in World War I. Captain Darling and Private Baldrick also exist.
Fact: Former Blackadder star Sir Tony Robinson has been crowned the winner of the factual category at the U.K.'s Blue Peter Book Awards for his work on Weird World of Wonders: World War Ii. It marked the actor/historian's second Blue Peter Book Awards honour - he also triumphed in 2007 for Worst Children's Jobs in History.
