Blake Lively Is Pregnant! Actress Announces She's Expecting First Child With Ryan Reynolds On 'Preserve'

Blake Lively is expecting her first child with husband Ryan Reynolds. The 27-year-old actress announced the news on her lifestyle website Preserve on Monday 6th October.

The announcement was made in a post on the Preserve website which focussed on family and referenced the "creation of family." The post was followed by a series of pictures featuring some of the products available to buy on the website and a number of pregnant women. At the very end of the post was an image, taken by Lively's brother Eric, of Lively cradling her growing baby bump.

The announcement is certainly surprising as Lively is evidently showing which, as the LA Times suggests, she's past the 12 week mark. The same media outlet is suggesting her due date will be sometime in the spring. The surprise announcement prompted thousands of fans to view her website which promptly caused it to crash. Fortunately it's up and running again as usual.

Lively and 37-year-old Reynolds married in 2012 after a year of dating. Lively has frequently discussed wanting to start a family in numerous interviews since their wedding. In August, Lively was interviewed by Vogue and discussed the prospect of children. Lively said, "I gotta get started. If I could spit out a litter of kids, I would."

Lively further discussed her excitement at the prospect of her future family and seeing Reynolds as a father to her children. "He's going to be a great father and leader and patriarch - he's so meant to be all of those things," Lively told Vogue.

Reynolds has also expressed a wish to have a large family. In a 2013 interview with Details, Reynolds said: "We'd love to have a big family. We both come from big families-my parents did four, Blake's did five. A lot of people say it's crazy, but we'll only know when we're there, you know? We'll walk through that fire pretty happily, I think."
