Country star Blake Shelton celebrated his birthday in style on Tuesday (18Jun13) after winning The Voice with his top contestant for the third season in a row.

The singer turned 37 years old on Tuesday, and spent his big day taking part in the grand finale of the U.S. talent show.

Shelton enjoyed a night to remember when his protegee Danielle Bradbery was crowned The Voice champion, winning a recording contract and a $100,000 (£65,000) cash prize.

After his victory with Bradbery, an excited Shelton tweeted, "Holy s**t balls!!!! I love y'all!!!!!! Congrats @DBradbery!!!!"

Bradbery's win means that Shelton is proving the go-to mentor for any aspiring artist - his former contestants on The Voice, Cassadee Pope and Jermaine Paul, have won the last two years. Singer Adam Levine's pick Javier Colon won the first series of the programme in 2011.

Former The Voice coach Christina Aguilera performed on Tuesday's episode with rapper Pitbull. Her Burlesque co-star Cher also took the stage to debut her new track Woman's World from her next album Closer to the Truth, the pop legend's first studio release in 12 years.
