Country Singer Blake Shelton Turned Down The Chance To Collaborate With Rapper Pitbull Because He Feared An Expletive-filled Track Would Upset His Fans.
The Boys 'Round Here hitmaker is one of country music's most beloved stars, so when Latin rapper Pitbull approached Shelton about a possible duet, he had to consider his more conservative fans and how they would react to their favourite singer appearing on a less than savoury track.
In an interview with Ryan Seacrest, Shelton admits, "I got real close to doing a song with Pitbull one time, (but) there's just something about me being like a middle America country artist saying the word motherf**ker over and over again. It was like, 'Man, I just don't know if that's going to go over with my soccer moms'. So I opted not to, but I was honoured."
Pitbull is known for his high-profile collaborations and has scored hits with artists such as fellow Latino stars Enrique Iglesias and Jennifer Lopez, Chris Brown and Shelton's The Voice co-star Christina Aguilera.
