Country star Blake Shelton features his nativity song 'There's a New Kid in Town' from his 2012 album 'Cheers, It's Christmas' on the soundtrack to the epic History Channel miniseries 'The Bible' which tells of most important stories of the Old and New Testament.
The video is a clip taken from the series depicting the birth of Jesus Christ in a stable, including Mary's gruelling journey to Bethlehem on a donkey and the shepherds and wise men following the star and offering their gifts to the baby boy. The song is a slow and melodic country tune with infectious lyrics; it is also a far cry from some of the other soundtrack numbers such as Cee Lo Green's 'Mary Did You Know' which only serves as a positive thing for this diverse 10 hour series.
With direction from Crispin Reece ('I Shouldn't Be Alive'), Tony Mitchell ('Flood') and Christopher Spencer ('Stonehenge: Decoded'), 'The Bible' is the brainchild of producers Roma Downey (who also stars in the series) and Mark Burnett ('Survivor', 'Shark Tank'). The first episode of the show reached 13.1 million viewers giving it the largest cable television audience of 2013 so far; altogether it has reached 50 million, and the series hasn't even finished yet! There is even further excitement with a brand new New York exhibit displaying various ancient religious artefacts that usually rest in the Vatican as well as a gallery of the series' stunning photography. 'The Bible' will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray on April 2nd 2013.
