Blur guitarist Graham Coxon is writing songs for a film about Britpop.

The musician is teaming up with Ash frontman Tim Wheeler to pen tracks for a fictional Britpop band in a movie called 'The Wanderers'.

The film is set in 1996 - the heyday of both Blur and Ash - and will feature the exploits of a group on The Rise in the British music scene. The story bears resemblance to that of Graham's band, as in the movie, the group come from Colchester, Essex, Southern England - where Graham and Blur singer Damon Albarn first met as children.

The team behind the film describe it as a ''non-conventional Britpop teen musical.''

Graham has previously worked on a soundtrack, writing songs for British film 'Curio'.

The Guitarist is not the only member of Blur to lend his talents to a musical production. Damon worked on 'Monkey: Journey to the West', a stage adaptation of a 16th Century Chinese novel, alongside actor and director Chen Shi-zheng and artist JAMIE HEWLETT. He has also co-created 'Dr Dee: An English Opera' with theatre director Rufus Norris.
