Fans of Americana rejoice! Three – well probably more like two – generations of the genre’s artists are set to tour the US this summer, with the legendary Bob Dylan being joined by the critically acclaimed My Morning Jacket and Wilco for a run of shows that’ll stretch from the end of June to the beginning of August.

The news was announced on the official website of Bob Dylan, with the tour being billed as the Americanarama Festival of Music.' It’s possible that there may well be more additions to the line-up, or perhaps local acts playing at each of the respective dates, with the poster promising more to be announced. Two who already have been confirmed are the Richard Thompson Electric Trio and Ryan Bingham. Thompson of course made his name as part of seminal folk group Fairport Convention.

As Billboard points out, Dylan is currently on a spring tour to support his latest album Tempest, which debuted at number three on the Billboard album charts last September; for a man who isn’t getting any younger it’s impressive the workload that the 71 year-old has taken on, though it could be argued that the amount of shows the folk star is playing could well mean he’s approaching his farewell and looking to get as much in as possible before retirement. The Summer tour will start on June 26th at West Palm Beach, Florida, calling in at 26 different shows and finishing at Mountain View.
