Bob Hoskins died for a second time today (May 1st), after some confused social media users thought the actor had passed away more than two years after his death. Hoskins died from pneumonia on April 29th 2014, but for some reason many twitter users thought he had just passed away.

The BBC news article from 2014 reporting his death became one of the site’s most read pages today as Hoskins began trending on Facebook and Twitter. Many users also took to social media to express their sadness over his death.

‘Never a "celebrity", Bob Hoskins was a great actor. First met him at The Roundhouse. A good man and great fun RIP,’ wrote one user. Another added: ‘So sad RIP Bob Hoskins’. Some users also added Hoskins to the list of stars we’ve lost so far in 2016, alongside David Bowie and Prince.

‘I've never known a year like it! He was a brilliant actor and will be greatly missed,’ shared one tweeter. However some immediately noticed the blunder, ‘Really sad to see that Bob Hoskins has died again for a second time. This time of Twitter-related complications,’ tweeter a more observant user.

Hoskins was famous for his roles in films including Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Long Good Friday and Hook. He had retired from acting in 2012 after he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.

Announcing his passing in 2014, his wife Linda and children Alex, Sarah, Rosa and Jack said: "We are devastated by the loss of our beloved Bob. Bob died peacefully at hospital last night surrounded by family, following a bout of pneumonia.”
