Odenkirk and Cross became cult favorites with their landmark 1995 sketch series 'Mr Show with Bob and David', which ran on HBO for four years, and they kept the gang together afterwards, with occasional reunions, including a six-city tour in 2013.

It's thought that some big-name guests will make appearances throughout the series.

In a busy day for Netflix, the company has also newly ordered a 1980s-set supernatural drama written and directed by up-and-coming duo the Duffer twins, reports USA Today. Montauk is described as a "love letter to the '80s classics that captivated a generation” and follows the story of a young boy's disappearance - a mystery that leads to his friends, family and the local police uncovering top-secret government experiments, supernatural forces and a strange little girl.

Cindy Holland, vice president of original content for Netflix, said: "Matt and Ross [Duffer] are emerging filmmakers with an unmistakable passion for genre and suspense. Their unique voice infuses this coming-of-age drama with supernatural thrills that will captivate our global audience."

Montauk is expected to premiere on Netflix next year, but in the meantime, fans of watch-when-you-like TV can look forward to the prison comedy drama 'Orange Is The New Black' returning to the streaming service for its eagerly awaited third season on June 12.
