The spin-off is coming, and it's coming to binge-watchers
Fear not, grieving Breaking Bad fans, as the show's spin off, Better Call Saul is making strong progress, and will be on Netflix in 2014, it has been confirmed. It will arrive on the streaming service soon after it airs on AMC.
Saul Goodman, who proved to be such a popular character in AMC's behemoth meth drama Breaking Bad will once again be played by Bob Odenkirk, the man who made Goodman such a lovable crook.
Many of his moments, from his introduction to his (minor spoiler) role near end of the show, are mentioned amongst the show's most memorable scenes. And the decision to focus on the liberally minded lawyer seems to have been met with a positive reaction from fans.
The synopsis for Better Call Saul reads: "From parking tickets to mass murder, from slip-and-fall to bond fraud, Saul handles it all."
Ted Sarandos, Netflix Chief Content Officer, said: "Breaking Bad is widely recognised as one of the great TV experiences in the new golden age of television. It has also proven very popular with Netflix subscribers around the world."
Steve Mosko, President of Sony Pictures Television, said he was "excited to continue the collaboration with Vince, as well as Peter Gould, and that fans around the world will be able to embrace Saul".
Netflix will adopt a similar method to streaming the second half of Breaking Bad's last season, which saw European subscribers get access to episodes just hours after AMC aired them in the U.S.
Bryan Cranston, who will now be remembered for his role as Walter White rather than Hal in Malcolm in The Middle, is nominated for a Golden Globe in the Best Actor category, while his partner in crime, Aaron Paul - who plays Jesse Pinkman - is up for Best Supporting Actor. Of course, the show as a whole is, of course, up for Best Drama, too.
