Bobby Brown believes that he and his ex-wife Whitney Houston failed their daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown, saying that both of them could have “been better” in a new interview nearly one year after his daughter’s tragic passing.

Bobbi Kristina Brown died in July 2015 at the age of 22, having never woken up from a coma since January 31st when she was found unresponsive and unconscious in her bathtub. The Fulton County Medical Examiner later found marijuana, alcohol, sedatives, anti-anxiety medications, morphine and what was described as a “cocaine-related substance” after a toxicology test.

“We could have been better. We should have been better,” the 47 year old R&B singer told ABC News’ Robin Roberts in a tearful interview that will be broadcast on Tuesday’s edition of ‘20/20’ (June 7th).

“It's not a mystery to me. The same thing that happened to my daughter is what happened to Whitney,” he said referring to the passing of Houston in 2012 in eerily similar circumstances to Bobbi Kristina.

“I am completely numb at this time. Krissy was and is an angel. My family must find a way to live with her in spirit and honour her memory. Our loss is unimaginable,” Brown said.

However, it is clear that he still blames Bobbi Kristina’s then-boyfriend Nick Gordon, 26, of being involved in his daughter’s death. Shortly after Gordon appeared on ‘The Dr. Phil Show’ earlier this year to deny any wrongdoing, Brown added himself alongside Bobbi Kristina’s conservator as a named plaintiff in the upcoming $50 million civil suit over her death.

“He knows what happened,” was all Brown had to say about Gordon during the new interview. “I don't know what happened that night. But he does.”
