So Lifetime’s Whitney Houston biopic premiered last night. Discuss. This one was directed by Angela Bassett and Lifetime really wanted you to know that. The Whitney Houston Lifetime biopic is going ahead as planned, but the singer’s family is not happy about it. Bobby Brown Free To Go After Nine Hours In Jail

Bobby Brown Lindsay Lohan

Get busted for a DUI, get sentenced to 55 days in jail, serve nine hours – sounds like a good deal right?

Bobby Brown probably thinks so. After the performer got sentenced for his second DUI in seven months, he was supposed to serve just 55 days in the slammer – a definite downgrade from the 120 the state of California usually requires for a repeated offence. But that still wasn’t brief enough – the 80s R&B artist got released a mere 9 hours after entering the LA County Jail, to the minute. But officials claim that it wasn’t due to any preferential treatment for Bobby Brown, simply overcrowded jails and lack of space. That sounds believable enough, considering the state of the American justice system.

Rather disappointlingly, Brown’s one day of jail time wasn’t even brief enough to win him the record, which still stays with Lindsay Lohan. In 2011 the troubled star managed to serve her 30-day sentence in just five hours. Talk about time management. Bobby Brown probably makes the top five though.

Talk About Getting Off Lightly: Bobby Brown In Jail For 9 Hours On DUI Charge

Bobby Brown

Bobby Brown has somehow escaped a proper prison sentence for his DUI charge. Unless you call 9 hours a proper prison sentence, that is. TMZ have called the news “a testament to how incredibly screwed up (the US) justice system is.” Brown was originally sentenced to 55 days in jail, for his third ‘Driving Under the Influence’ offence. That 55 days somehow reduced to a pretty insignificant 9 hours. Not a whole lot of time to sit back and think about what you’ve done wrong, now, is it? We’re not convinced that 9 hours in prison is going to reform a man that’s already been arrested for drunk driving twice before.

According to TMZ, Bobby Brown checked into LA County jail at 9:58 on Wednesday. He was later released at 6:58pm. A spokesperson for LA county jail had said a few days previously that Brown would likely spend 9 days in jail, but the jails are apparently “bursting at the seams,” hence the reduction in his sentence. Lucky for Brown then that he’s not considered a priority case when it comes to keeping inmates inside the prison and had his sentence dramatically squashed.

Bobby was arrested for the driving offence back in October after he was spotted driving erratically on a road in Los Angeles. It was his second arrest in 7 months on the same charge and the former husband of Whitney Houston is already on probation for 4 years and has to attend alcohol education charges.

Bobby Brown Released After A Day In Lockup

Bobby Brown

Bobby Brown is out – of jail, that is. And in record time, too. Of course, the record of one Miss Lindsay Lohan remains unchallenged, but Brown’s total of nine hours in the slammer will surely make at least the Top 5. After pleading no contest on a DUI and driving on a suspended license back in October 2012 (it was his second DUI in seven months), Brown was supposed to be convicted to 55 days in prison. Earlier this week, a spokesperson for the L.A. County jail said that Brown would serve no less than 9 days, TMZ reports.

Instead, he entered the L.A. County jail at 9.58AM this Wednesday and was released at 6.58PM, adding up to a total of exactly nine hours served in prison. Good on the American justice system then. Overcrowded jails were, of course, cited as a reason behind the shortened sentence. In the end, though, for whatever reason, he’s out after spending a working day behind bars.

Bobby Brown Heads To Jail After DUI Case Charges Upheld

Bobby Brown

Bobby Brown is back in prison, after being convicted of a drunk driving charge.

The controversial star and former husband of the late Whitney Houston, is no stranger to jail, having been taken in plenty of time in the 90's for a series of offences that spread from drunk driving to possession of drugs and driving while intoxicated. He was also arrested after shows several times for engaging in simulations of sex acts with female audience members that he’d bring on stage during his performances.

This latest conviction will see the musician spend 55 days behind bars and receive a further four years of probation. The sentence comes after he was arrested in October on suspicion of DUI, while he was already probation for another similar charge. In addition to the four years probation and jail time, Brown will also have to undergo and 18 month alcohol treatment plan. He’ll report to jail on March 20th.

Bobby Brown Sentenced To JAIL TIME For DUI

Bobby Brown

Bobby Brown – ex-husband to the late Whitney Houston – has been sentenced to 55 days in jail after being charged with a DUI offence, according to celebrity gossip site, TMZ.

Brown's license had been suspended as a result of his previous DUI conviction in 2012, but he was also convicted of DUI in 1996. And it was third time unlucky for BB as the court showed no sympathy. The sentence doesn’t stop there; with it, Bobby has to attend and complete an 18-month alcohol program and has been handed a four-year probation. So he better be on his best behavior! The singer pleaded not guilty to driving under the influence, and maintained his innocence even when it went to a L.A court. With the evidence quite obviously pointing towards guilt, and Bobby’s history with DUI’s, perhaps his firm stand landed him a heavier sentence. What’s worse, is that he was found driving without the dashboard breathalyser he was ordered to carry with him in his car the last time he was arrested. Need to start learning from these mistakes Bobby!

Cissy Houston's Memoir: Whitney Houston's Mom Doesn't Blame Bobby Brown For Drug Problems

Whitney Houston Bobby Brown

People magazine have revealed some of the details of the memoir written by Whitney Houston’s mother, Cissy Houston. Whitney died almost a year ago, in a hotel bathroom in Beverley Hills, on the eve of last year’s Grammy Awards. In the book, Remembering Whitney, Cissy reveals that she is angry that Whitney died alone. She also reveals that – unlike many others – she does not blame Bobby Brown for her daughter’s drug problems.

“I'm angry she died alone, in those conditions," says Cissy. "I'm still mad about that." Cissy struggled to curtail Whitney’s drug use though, worried that she would end up pushing her away completely. “She started partying and she didn't really know how to stop… I used to wonder what she was doing at night, where she was.” Cissy explains that although she was shocked to see Whitney’s gaunt appearance at the 2001 Michael Jackson tribute concert, she did not express her concern to her daughter. “What was the point?" Cissy asks in the book. "I didn't want her to run completely away from me.

On the subject of Whitney’s ex-husband Bobby Brown, Cissy explains that although Bobby’s treatment of Whitney was wrong, she does not blame him for the fact that she developed drug problems. “I blame him for the way he treated her," she writes, "but I don't blame him for her drug problems." Still, she adds: "He was no help to her at all." Remembering Whitney will be published by Harper Collins.

Bobby Brown Pleads Not Guilty To Second DUI Bust Of The Year

Bobby Brown Whitney Houston

Singer Bobby Brown pleaded not guilty to his second DUI charge in seven months, with the troubled singer potentially looking at a maximum of two years behind bars if he is convicted.

The New Jack Swing wunderkind entered the plea through his lawyer, Tiffany Feder, and did not appear at the hearing in person in front of the awaiting media and his Los Angeles County criminal judge. The New York Daily News reported that Brown, who was husband to the late Whitney Houston during her darkest years, was successful in his plea of not guilty and ordered to attend three Alcoholics Anonymous meetings per week in the build up to his follow-up hearing on December 13th.

His second offence of the year saw Brown get pulled over by a Californian police officer at around 1 a.m. on Oct. 24 for an alleged traffic violation, with Sgt. Pablo Monterrosa telling the NY Daily News shortly after that although he failed the field sobriety test and the Breathalyzer he was cooperative throughout the whole procedure, something that no doubt added to his slap on the hand punishment in front of the judge. However, it isn't over yet for Brown as the court hearing in December could potentially see the star get sent behind bars for up to two years.

Bobby Brown 'Embarrassed' Over Arrest, Considering Rehab

Bobby Brown

Bobby Brown's DUI arrest may well be a blessing in disguise, after the New Edition singer admitted he was considering rehabilitation to fix his drink problem. Friends of the star told TMZ.com that Brown has finally snapped out of his denial and realized he has a major problem.

Though Bobby has been through the rehabilitation process before, he didn't take it particularly seriously and never truly believed he was an alcohol abuser. Now, after his latest arrest, Brown is said to be "extremely embarrassed" and understands that alcohol has become a huge problem. A source says he us "strongly considering" checking back into rehabilitation though is yet to make a firm decision. Friends unsurprisingly support the idea though don't want to push the treatment on him: it will only be effective if Bobby enters rehab of his own accord.

Bobby was arrested at 1am on Wednesday after being pulled over after driving erratically. It's his latest DUI charge after being convicted for the same offense in 1996. In theory, he faces up to two years in jail, though is unlikely to end up behind bars.

Bobby Brown Spotted At Karaoke Before DUI Arrest, But What Was He Singing?

Bobby Brown New Edition

What was Bobby Brown doing when he was arrested for DUI in the early hours of yesterday (October 24, 2012)?

Well, TMZ have received news that the New Edition singer was having it large in a karaoke bar. Perhaps this is how veteran R&B performers practise for their arena tours, these days. Or maybe Bobby was just enjoying a night out with some pals. Either way, he forgot the golden rule: If you’re boozing, get a cab!

This isn’t the first time that Bobby Brown has been arrested for driving under the influence. He was arrested for the same offence earlier this year and has reportedly been seeking help for his substance issues over the summer. He was pulled over by police at about 1am yesterday but staff at the Maui Sugar Mill Saloon have told TMZ that he hadn’t been drinking alcohol whilst he was there, just singing his little heart out on the karaoke.

Bobby Brown Arrested For Second Time This Year

Bobby Brown Whitney Houston

Singer Bobby Brown was arrested early this morning, Wednesday, October 24th, on the suspicion of a DUI - his second such arrest this year, The Los Angeles Times reports.

Los Angeles Police Department Officer Venus Hall said officers pulled Brown over near the intersection of Ventura Boulevard and Corbin Avenue about 1 a.m. and "when they approached him, they smelled the alcohol." It is still unknown if Brown took a Breathalyzer test but Hall said he was booked and released. If the story turns out to be valid, then Brown really should have known better; he was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated in March near the intersection of Victory Boulevard and Wilbur Avenue. The police pulled him over for talking on his cellphone but then administered a field sobriety test and arrested him. This earned him three years' informal probation and a day in jail, as well as participation in a 90-day alcohol education program and a $390 fine.

Bobby is, of course, the ex-husband of Whitney Houston, who died in February after an accidental drowning complicated by the effects of heart disease and cocaine, which was found in her system. The couple's relationship was notoriously turbulent, and the two waged public battles with substance abuse before divorcing after 15 years of marriage in 2007.

Two Can Play That Game Review

Weak

A movie that preaches dishonesty, trickery and manipulation as the keys to romantic happiness, "Two Can Play That Game" is populated by pathetically shallow "players" of both sexes and very talented actors trapped by their skin color in a tired genre of self-perpetuating stereotypes.

"Two Can Play" is about a successful black ad executive (Vivica A. Fox) who thinks her man, a successful black lawyer (Morris Chestnut), may be running around on her. Her solution for shaping him up (rather than confronting him and having an adult conversation or just leaving to find someone better) is to launch into a 10-day plan that includes breaking up, not returning his calls, making sure he sees her with other men, going to his house, getting him hot, then leaving, and a whole litany of other vindictive head games.

Of course, all of this is meant to be risqué and amusing, but in fact it just makes the movie's heroine look like the kind of shrill, immature, self-centered strumpet whom no man in his right mind would want to be saddled with.
