Troubled singer Bobby Brown "was not driving erratically" before he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence (Dui), according to his lawyer.
Whitney Houston's ex-husband was pulled over by police in Reseda, California on Monday (26Mar12) after he was allegedly caught driving while chatting on his cell phone.
He failed a field sobriety test and was taken into custody, but released from Van Nuys Jail after two hours.
His lawyer, Tiffany Feder, has now addressed the drama, confirming Brown was talking on his cell but dismissing gossip he was spotted driving carelessly before his arrest.
Feder says, "Everyone is innocent until proven guilty, and Mr. Brown was not driving erratically. He was speaking on his cell phone.
"Mr. Brown has not been convicted of anything associated with this incident. Mr. Brown is taking this matter seriously and an investigation is underway. The legal process shall run its course."
Brown, who has a history of drug abuse, was previously convicted for Dui in 1996, for which he served eight days in jail.
