The U2 frontman, whose ONE advocacy organisation campaigns on a range of issues including women's rights, is to join leading African musicians including Banky W and D'banj on a remix of protest song Strong Girl.

He used the announcement of the new track on Monday (31Aug15) to urge fans to make female empowerment a political issue, saying, "Politicians in the end have to be elected, and what is popular drives all of their decisions. It's that simple. So if the subject is popular among the electorate, then it suddenly dawns on politicians that this is a subject they, too, feel strongly about."
