The musical, about the children of Disney villains Maleficent, Jafar, Evil Queen and Cruella de Vil, became the most-watched cable TV movie of the year when it premiered in the U.S. in July (15), and its soundtrack topped the Billboard 200 albums chart.

Its success sparked speculation about a sequel, but Stewart and Carson insist the four lead stars, including Dove Cameron and Cameron Boyce, have not heard anything about reprising their roles for another movie.

Carson tells WENN, "We have group chat the four of us and I think a week or two ago, Dove sent us an article that confirmed the second one and she was like, 'Errr guys, did I not know about this?' And we're like 'we haven't heard anything'. We really hope (it happens)."

Stewart joked, "We've all been recast" before Carson adds, "We know there's an animated short series that will follow this movie called Wicked World but hopefully there's a sequel. We would love to come back and play (characters) Jay and Evie."

Descendants premieres in the U.K. on the Disney Channel at 5.30pm on Friday 25 September (15).
