Fury, written and directed by the man also responsible for the Oscar winning Training Day and acclaimed thriller End of Watch, has been described as a rich character study with action scenes.

Speaking to People magazine, Ayer said: "I set out to make the ultimate tank movie". He even used the last working Tiger tank from Second World War tank in the movie. It was loaned to the production by the Tank Museum in Dorset during shooting, which took place in Shirburn, Oxfordshire.

Watch the Fury trailer:

The first trailer is certainly intriguing and appears to confirm that Fury will fall somewhere between an action movie and a stage play.

It's pencilled in for November 14, 2014 in a bid to catch the attention of the Academy. It's currently available as a 16-1 outsider to win Best Picture at the Oscars in 2015, which probably isn't a bad bet for those who enjoy a flutter. The Steve Carell starring Foxcatcher is still the big favorite to take the award though with months to go before nominations are even considered, it's perfectly plausible that an outsider will emerge as a true contender for the ultimate prize in moviemaking.
