Brad Pitt has revealed he became ''obsessed'' with the book his new movie 'Moneyball' is based on and was desperate to adapt it for the big screen.
Brad Pitt became "obsessed" with adapting 'Moneyball' for the big screen.
The 47-year-old actor portrays baseball manager Billy Beane in the new movie based on the book 'Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game' by Michael Lewis and while the film went through several rewrites and a change of director over four years, Brad is thrilled the story will finally be told.
He explained to Britain's Daily Telegraph: "I became obsessed with this book and what the guys in Oakland did in re-imagining The Game - like questioning religion in a way. It's about how we value things, how we value each other, how we value ourselves and how we decide who's a winner based on those values.
"The screenplay went through many evolutions and it took everyone's fingerprints including director Bennett Miller's and the casting of mainly real people from inside baseball to produce what is finally on screen. I was very passionate about it and I'm very happy with the final outcome."
Although Brad loved working on the baseball movie, he revealed the sport is not for him after he injured himself and had to get 18 stitches in his face while playing baseball in high school.
He said: "I needed 18 stitches and I figured that baseball and I weren't a good match. I've still got a scar."
