Brad Pitt has confirmed that he and his team are developing a sequel to the surprise zombie hit World War Z, though could put the stoppers on the project if the script isn't good enough. Plagued by production problems, Pitt's movie rallied to score solid reviews and a whopping $553 million at the worldwide box office earlier this year.

"We're certainly talking about it [a sequel], yes," he told Variety in a new interview. "We have so many ideas on the table from the time we spent developing this thing and figuring out how the zombie worlds work.We gotta get the script right first to determine if we go further."

Marc Foster's movie faced seemingly insurmountable problems throughout its production and post-production, with Paramount deciding to change the movie's final third. Anyone who's seen World War Z may be of the opinion that such a decision was made with a sequel in mind anyway.

One of the highest grossing movies of 2013, the film is also Pitt's most successful movie ever.

A sort of more linear and Hollywood adaptation of Max Brooks' 2006 movie, World War Z underwent a completely rewrite and reshoot of the third act, taking the budget to nearly $200 million in total. However, a slick marketing campaign with Brad Pitt's face on literally everything managed to save the day.

"We have so many ideas and so much information-we think we have a lot of stuff to mine from," Pitt said.

His co-star Mireille Enos, who's in Toronto promoting her new movie Devil's Knot, confirmed that she's 100% on board for the sequel. "We'll wait and see how the script turns out but yes, I'd love to come back," she said.

Though we could be wrong - we're predicting that Marc Foster probably won't be back for the sequel, though writer Damon Lindelof definitely will be.

Until then, Pitt co-stars and produces Steve McQueen's 12 Years a Slave - out of October 10, 2013. The film is now the bookies' favorite to win Best Picture at the Oscars in 2014.
