Bradley Cooper and Ryan Reynolds are to partner up in a new action film.

The as-yet-untitled movie - written by 'Up in the Air' scriptwriter Sheldon Turner - tells the tale of two San Francisco police officers whose fathers were once partners on the force.

The two dads are forced out of retirement to help Cooper and Reynolds with a tough job.

It is believed the project will have a similar feel to 'Lethal Weapon', the Risky Business Blog reports.

The movie was initially called 'Blowback', and had Dwayne Johnson attached to star, however the project never got off the ground.

Neal Moritz, Andrew Panay and Jonathon Komack Martin are set to produce alongside Benderspink's J. C. Spink and Chris Bender.

Both Reynolds and Cooper have a busy schedule ahead of them.

While 33-year-old Reynolds will next be seen in comic book-adaptation 'Green Lantern' as the titular hero, Cooper has both 'The Hangover 2' and 'The Dark Fields' due for release in 2011.
