Thoughts Bradley Cooper is one of Hollywood's most talented actor's, from starring in such films as 'Silver Linings Playbook', 'Limitless' and the hilarious 'Hangover' trilogy.

But like all stars in show business, you have to start somewhere and usually it is at the bottom.

Cooper began as a struggling young actor on NBC's 'Alias' with a supporting role opposite Jennifer Garner.

He played 'Will Tippin' the innocent, unassuming roommate to secret spy Sydney Bristow (Garner) and in an interview with GQ Magazine he revealed how work was slim at best on the TV drama.

"I would only work three days a week," the 38 year-old said. "And then for the second season, I got even more sidelined. I was like, 'Ugh.' And then next thing you know, I was like, 'I want to f--king kill myself.'"

In a bold move Bradley, against the advice from his colleagues and friends, told J.J Abrams (the show's creator) to write his character off the show, "J.J. was like, 'Okay.' He probably would've fired me, anyway," he recalled.

Things for the actor became even worse when he began to seriously struggle with a drug and alcohol addiction. "If I continued it, I was really going to sabotage my whole life," Cooper said, referring to his decision of becoming sober at 29 years-old.

"I think work was getting f--ked up," he continued. "Yes, of course it hindered the work."

Sobriety for the 'American Hustle' actor was such a pivotal moment in his career and the results showed the dramatic change in his professional life.

"I was doing these movies, and I got to meet Sandra Bullock [his co-star in 2009's All About Steve] and meet these people and work with them," he stated. "And I'm sober, and I'm like, 'Oh, I'm actually myself. And I don't have to put on this air to be somebody else, and this person still wants to work with me? Oh, what the f--k is that about?' I was rediscovering myself in this workplace, and it was wonderful."

The interview is for GQ's January issue where Cooper is also featured on the cover.
