Brandy Norwood and Jordin Sparks led a tribute to Whitney Houston last night (16.12.12).

The singers took the stage at the 'VH1 Divas' show at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles to pay homage to the late music icon, who died on February 11, aged 48.

R&B singer Brandy - who starred alongside the 'I Will Always Love You' hitmaker in Disney's 'Cinderella' in 1997 - began the tribute, telling the audience she had idolised Whitney growing up.

She said: ''The first concert I ever went to was a Whitney Houston show and I was determined to get close to her. I talked my way through security until I finally made it backstage, but by then she was already gone. Years later, I finally got to meet her and even shared the 'VH1 Divas' stage with her.''

Meanwhile, former 'American Idol' winner Jordin - who took the lead role in 'Sparkle', Whitney's final film before her death - sang one of her biggest hits, 'I'm Every Woman', while the word 'Whitney' appeared in bright lights behind her.

Soul singers Melanie Fiona and Ledisi then joined Jordin for a montage of Whitney's best known dance songs.

Melanie sang 'I Wanna Dance with Somebody', flanked by a troupe of dancers who gyrated through the aisles in the crowd, and Ledisi gave a rousing rendition of 'How Will I Know'.

Also on the show, Keri Hilson and Kelly Rowland led a tribute to 'Hot Stuff' singer Donna Summer, who died of lung cancer in May.

Other stars who performed at 'VH1 Divas' included Kelly Clarkson, Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato.
