R&B star Brandy has added her name to the chorus of support for embattled singer Chris Brown, insisting it is time for the Kiss Kiss hitmaker's critics to move on from vilifying him for his pre-Grammy Awards fight with Rihanna in 2009.
Brown left his then-girlfriend black and blue and was convicted for assault.
The singer is still serving out community service for his actions, but a restraining order against him was dropped last year (11), and Brown has since teamed up with his ex in the studio to record and remix two new tracks.
And she is not the only high-profile female who appears to have forgiven him - Cheryl Cole reached out to her fans earlier this year (12), and now Brandy, who recently collaborated with Brown, is offering her support.
She tells U.S. news show Access Hollywood, "Chris Brown, at the end of the day, is a person and he is going through... his own struggles. I don't think it's anybody's place to judge him. I just think we need to be a little more supportive of celebrities that are out there going through things in life."
Brown took to Twitter.com earlier this year (May12) to thank British singer Cole after she urged her fans to forgive the Kiss Kiss singer.
In a TV interview, she said, "I think it's time we all moved on. That guy is talented as hell."
Brown responded by tweeting, "Your (sic) amazing! I appreciate you." He later deleted the message and replaced it with: "Thanks for the support and believing in me as an artist!"
