Kicking things up a notch since Monday, on Tuesday Late Night with Seth Meyers included a memorable appearance by Kanye West. Yeezy performed a career-spanning medley, including his most iconic songs – Jesus Walks, Touch The Sky, Stronger, Heartless, All of the Lights, Mercy and Black Skinhead. West’s appearance included an interview with Meyers, during which the rapper was remarkably mellow and charming. Then he unleashed a torrent of classic West stage shenanigans, followed by the obligatory mic drop.

West came on Meyers' second night (dubbed by the host "Seth Meyers: Deuces") to liven things up.

Of course Kanye, self-proclaimed creative genius that he is, isn’t just resting on old laurels. West is currently working, or will work on a film, written by Brett Easton Ellis especially for him. Ellis explained that he had been reluctant to take on the project at first, but then had his mind changed last summer.

Bret Easton Ellis, the controversial author behind American Psycho and the recent movie The Canyons starring Lindsay Lohan has revealed he's written a script for rapper Kanye West. The pair first met last year after Kanye remade a scene from the movie adaption of American Psycho to promote his latest album Yeezus.

Author Bret Easton Ellis has voiced his distaste for this year's winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature, Alice Munro, who most recently penned Dear Life; a collection of short stories. Taking to Twitter, the celebrated author penned a tirade against Munro's six decade-spanning career.

"Alice Munro is so completely overrated," he wrote. "Alice Munro was always an overrated writer and now that she's won the Nobel she always will be. The Nobel is a joke and has been for ages." Christian Lorentzen, who savagely reviewed Munro's last collection, replied to Easton Ellis' tweet with a simple "Amen." In a twist, Lorentzen placed a bet that Munro would win and has apparently reaped rewards to the tune of £400, reports The Independent.

The trailer for The Canyons was released at least eight months before the movie release, giving us a tantalising glimpse of the swirling cinematography, melancholic Hollywood glamour and synthy Drive-esque soundtrack of the erotic thriller. Plus, it looked like a solid return to filmmaking for Lindsay Lohan whose public battle to stay sober has consumed the press surrounding her lately.

We felt good that Lindsay Lohan got some props from Variety, though Paul Schrader's movie can be dubbed a complete success for other, less exciting reasons.

In January, the New York Magazine's Stephen Rodrick wrote a long, detailed article on The Canyons with a hugely cynical tone.

We never thought The Canyons shoot was going to be an easy ride for anyone, and as it turns out, it wasn't. It really wasn't. Bringing together controversial novelist Bret Easton Ellis, porn star James Deen and the troubled Hollywood actress Lindsay Lohan was always going to be risky and according to screenwriter Stephen Rodrick, all hell broke loose on set.

The scribe spoke to TMZ.com about the whole darn thing, claiming Lohan was initially fired after failing to show-up for a read-through before showing up at director Paul Schrader's hotel room, pounding on his door while hysterically crying and begging for her job back.  The actress stayed in the hallway for around 90 minutes before leaving after securing a second chance. 

Perhaps the most concerning part of Rodrick's story is the 4-way 14 minute sex scene shot with real-life porn actors. Lohan wasn't happy about the scene and had been drinking beforehand, locking herself in a closet and refusing to come out. Director Schrader had to beg her to do the scene, eventually stripping naked his self in order to show her it was no big deal. After finally completing the take, Lindsay drove off in her Porsche with Rodrick saying the producers "all hoped they would still have a lead actress in the morning."

Bret Easton Ellis, since forging a reputation as an excellent author, has soured that perception somewhat by launching into some rather unsavoury twitter rants that reek of bitterness. 

His latest target is Kathryn Bigelow, the highly celebrated American film director, film producer, screenwriter and television director. In 2009, she won the Academy Award for Best Picture for the The Hurt Locker, which was also awarded the BAFTA Award for Best Film, and was nominated for the 2010 Golden Globe Award for Best Drama. This, however, isn't enough for Easton Ellis, and he thinks her gender has something to do with her success; that and her good looks. "Kathryn Bigelow would be considered a mildly interesting filmmaker if she was a man but since she's a very hot woman she's really overrated," he tweeted, not uncharacteristically. Her latest film, Zero Dark Thirty has already been named best film of 2012 both by the National Board of Review and the New York Film Critics Circle and will surely be honoured by several other bodies before the awards season ends.

Like we said, Easton Ellis has a habit of slating fellow professionals within 140 characters or sell, and in a very unprofessional manner. While prospective employers will probably see this as a sign of volatility, making him seem very unemployable, it's good entertainment for us, isn't it?
