Under the mononymous working title, the film follows Britney's showbiz beginnings on 'The Mickey Mouse Club' when she was just 11-years-old, her catapult to international stardom with mega hits the likes of '...Baby One More Time' and 'Oops!... I Did It Again', through to her relationships with Justin Timberlake and ex-husbands Jason Alexander and Kevin Federline who will be played by Nathan Keyes ('The Kings of Summer'), newcomer Kelly McCabe and Clayton Chitty ('Boy/Girl') respectively.

The popstar is in no way affiliated with the making of the movie; in fact, a statement from her rep issued earlier this year suggests that she's not entirely happy about the project. 'Britney Spears will not be contributing in any way, shape or form to the Lifetime biopic, nor does it have her blessing', the statement read. This is probably largely due to the fact that the movie is expected to document her hughly publicized 'fall from grace' as it were; from her breakdown in 2007 which saw her shave her head and her eventual loss of custody of her sons, to her being committed to a psychiatric ward the following year.

'Britney' is expected to air on Lifetime in January 2017.
