Britney Spears has moved from the big stage to the small screen after signing a deal with games firm Glu Mobile to make an official game with her "voice, likeness and creative influence" due to come out in early 2016.

The firm is hoping to repeat the $100m success it had with the Kim Kardashian game with the Oops I Did It Again singer in an eight-year licensing deal.

Glu released Kim Kardashian: Hollywood in June 2014 and players were able to make their way in the entertainment business with the help of their superstar mentor.

With this new instalment featuring Ms Spears, fans have been promised the "glitz and glamour of the entertainment business" which might mean it misses out some of Britney’s more peculiar head-shaving moments.

The Baby One More Time hitmaker is not the first female musician to move over to mobile gaming as in February 2015, Glu announced a partnership with Katy Perry. That game is due to be released towards the end of this year.

Of the new addition to Glu’s portfolio, company Chief Executive Niccolo de Masi said: "People like Britney Spears have been successful for more than a decade.

"They have brand recognition and social following everywhere: not just developed nations but also emerging markets."
