Britney Spears is finally giving Las Vegas audiences a piece of herself, with her much hyped show Piece of Me having opened on Friday, December 27. Expectations were high, but the Work B***h singer still delivered. Each of the 100 shows Spears will perform in the next two years has been designed as a retrospective, spanning Brit’s career since the Baby One More Time days.

Brit's residency was off to a booming start on Friday.

The Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino made a huge investment into Spears’ show - $15 million, according to reports – but the investment is a fairly safe one. Las Vegas residencies are notoriously profitable. Planet Hollywood hopes to attract a slightly older crowd with the retrospective – the 20 and 30-somethings, who grew up listening to Brit in the 90s and early 00s.

Planet Hollywood will be the only place to see Spears live for the next two years.

According to Billboard’s review, the show was characterised by flashy sets and impressive mechanical sets, quick transitions and costume changes, well rehearsed dance routines and little to no live singing. It sounds like typical Spears fare, but since the singer rarely performs older songs on tour, instead focusing on her most recent album, the retrospective is exactly the type of show her older fans might be attracted to.

Piece of Me kicks off with her 2013 single Work B***h before transitioning into her older hits (not in chronological order). The only other new song on the setlist is Brit’s other single, which is soon to get its own music video, Perfume. The Piece of Me show will be the only place to see the singer live for the next two years, with tickets currently ranging between $59 to $229. Keep in mind however, that the brief appearance of Miley Cyrus on opening night, during which the Wrecking Ball singer kissed one of Brit’s backup dancers, was probably a one-time thing.
