The resurgent Britney Spears has announced details of her forthcoming ninth album, which will be called Glory and released later this month on August 26th.

The 34 year old pop veteran, whose 17 year singing career is undergoing a renaissance off the back of her successful Las Vegas residency and recent show-stopping Billboard Music Awards medley, announced the new album via Twitter on Wednesday (August 3rd), framing it as “the beginning of a new era”.

Adding an image of the record’s artwork, the tweet read: “#Glory. My new album & the beginning of a new era. Available 8/26 on @AppleMusic. Pre-order tonight at midnight ET.”

Glory is also set to be an Apple Music exclusive, with people who are pre-ordering the album able to access an instant download of ‘Private Show’, which was previously trailered in a risqué commercial for a new fragrance of the same name.

The record, her first in three years since 2013’s Britney Jean, will also contain Spears’ recent single ‘Make Me’, a collaboration with rapper G-Eazy.

“It’s not what you would think at all,” she told V magazine in March this year, when asked about any upcoming new music. “It’s the best thing I’ve done in a long time. I’m proud of the work, and it’s very different; it’s not what you would think at all. But I’m not rushing anything. I just want it to be done right, so that my fans will truly appreciate it.”

Meanwhile, Spears celebrated the announcement of her new album with an appearance on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ the same night – and she took part in an alarming prank in which she and her half-naked back-up dancers barged in on the host as he was fast asleep and performed a fully choreographed rendition of ‘Make Me’!
