Britney Spears has slowed the pace down dramatically for her next single, wiping the sweat from the rambunctious 'Work Bitch,' to make a much sweeter smelling second single. 'Perfume' is a much more delicate release, a hark back to some of her more successful ballads like 'Lucky,' and as the singer herself revealed recently, it is also a much more personal release than her raunchy first single.

"'Perfume' is incredibly special to me because it hits close to home, and I think the story is relatable to everyone," Spears said to E! News about her latest single. "Everyone's been through an insecure moment in a relationship that's left them vulnerable and I think this song captures that."

Produced by Will.i.am and co-written by Spears and up-and-comer Sia, the singer discards the overtly sexual persona she adopted for 'Work Bitch' as she plays a paranoid lover, scared of what might go wrong in her romance.

"Have you been thinking 'bout her or about me/And while I wait I put on my perfume, yeah I want it all over you," she sings, seeped in monomania.

'Perfume' is the second single to be taken from her upcoming eighth studio album, Britney Jean, and was unveiled to her fans through her official FaceBook page on Sunday, 3 November. The song was later release through iTunes and is currently storming up the singles chart. The single release also marks the occasion when fans can pre-order her upcoming album, Britney Jean, which will be released officially on 3 December.
