Britney Spears wants to have a daughter.

The 31-year-old singer has two sons, Sean Preston, seven, and Jayden James, six, from her marriage to Kevin Federline, but she hasn't ruled out having more children in the future and would be keen to add a girl to her family.

Speaking to TV show 'Extra', Britney said: ''I want a girl.''

When further pressed if she was serious about having a daughter by host Mario Lopez, she simply replied: ''Yes.''

The former 'X Factor USA' judge is currently dating David Lucado and hopes the relationship continues to go in the right direction so that he can become a stay-at-home dad and she can carry on performing.

And Britney - who split from her fiancé Jason Trawick in January - already has her sights set on her two boys entering the entertainment industry and believes they'd cope well in the public eye.

She said: ''They do like attention, so I think they would probably be a little good in the limelight. We're taking baby steps at this point as far as agencies and stuff like that goes, but they're little comedians, so we'll see.''

The singer is currently working on a new album produced by Will.i.am and admits the pair have ''fun'' in the recording studio.

Britney - whose track 'Scream & Shout' with the Black Eyed Peas star has become a worldwide hit - explained: ''We've done like two songs so far, and we have so much fun in the studio.''
