They may have both been wearing blue at the Smurfs 2 premiere but Katy Perry and Britney Spears could have never fooled anyone into thinking they were the same singer. Perry, who voices the blonde-haired, blue-skinned Smurfette, revealed to E! News that she had a hand in Spears' soundtrack hit, having "secretly" recorded some BVs.

Speaking to E! News, the 'I Kissed A Girl' singer revealed that it wasn't such 'Toxic' singer Britney's voice singing about smurfular romance on the poptastic song. "Me and Bonnie [McKee, 'Ooh La La' writer and Perry collaborator] secretly did some background vocals on that song," Perry said at the LA premiere of the flick, "So maybe listen for our voices."

It's true, once it has been pointed out, Perry's distinctive tones can be heard streaming through the chorus of saccharine headache. However, it doesn't seem that Katy intended to usurp the veteran pop star, having added "I can't wait to meet her [Spears]" and the pair each having exuberantly tweeted about each other after the premiere.

Could it have been planned better? Both popstars attended the Smurfs 2 premiere decked out in blue dresses and accessories, with Spears' young boys (who also appear in the official music vid), Jaden and Sean, in tow. They exchanged hugs and greeted each other like old friends with Spears looking forward to the future: "So great to see you Smurfette @katyperry! Can't wait for our Vegas date..."

A collaboration soon? Watch out for the 'Oops I Did It Again (Kissed A Girl)' duo track...maybe.

The Smurfs 2 is set for a July 31 release in cinemas.
