With the release of their debut studio album, 'Evergreen' in August, Broods have discussed how Caleb, one of the two members found himself dropping out of university to work on their music career. "I got through a year," he explained, "and then I had to drop out." It turns out that this success was always destined for the siblings, however, as music has been a big part of their lives from a young age. "We grew up in a ridiculously musical household," said Georgia, "There was more guitars than people."

In a recent interview, Broods discussed their rise to prominence, with Caleb explaining the first time he ever performed to his parents. "I would've been about three years old when I got my first ukulele. I used to get the toilet role holder from the bathroom and lean it back like a microphone and stand there and play for mum and dad."

"Our first show as Broods was a showcase in Auckland" they explained, and, as they shared a music producer with Australian musical hit, Lorde. "Lorde actually turned up with her band. I went up and talked to her after and just asked her what she thought and she just gave me a massive-ass hug, saying how proud she was of us both. We felt pretty bloody good after it."

"Our first album; it's called 'Evergreen'. We wrote it in about five weeks. That's the only time we had free in-between tours and stuff. But I think we work well under that kinda pressure." 'Evergreen', the duo's debut studio album, was released on 22nd August, 2014 (containing their first single, 'Bridges' as the fourth track), and it debuted at the number 1 spot on the New Zealand Albums Chart. Not bad for a family that were outnumbered by their own instruments at one time.
