Carroll also faces a misdemeanour charge of keeping a shop or vehicle for dangerous drugs. A graduate of Florida Gulf Coast University, Carroll was arrested along with another man, James Lee Allen, who faces the same charges.

In September 2013, Carroll won a competition to watch the series finale with the cast at a private party in Los Angeles which was sponsored by series star Aaron Paul, AKA Jesse Pinkman. At the time, Mr Carroll stated that Breaking Bad was "highly addicting, just like the meth they make" which should have triggered alarm bells.

he hit AMC series centred on Bryan Cranston's Walter White, a high school chemistry teacher diagnosed with terminal lung cancer who decides to make the necessary financial arrangements for his treatments and family by cooking meth with his former student and accomplice, Pinkman. Running for five seasons from 2008 to 2013, Breaking Bad proved one of the most popular TV dramas of all time, garnering a host of awards, including ten Primetime Emmy awards, three of which were acting accolades for Bryan Cranston.

It is not known whether Carroll and Allen were attempting to imitate Walter and Jesse's drug-cooking hijinks but the NY Daily News sums the situation up perfectly: "at least it wasn't a contest for the TV show Dexter."
