Bryan Singer Files For Second Sexual Abuse Case Dismissal

After months of allegations and legal proceedings, Bryan Singer has filed a motion to have the second sexual abuse case against him dismissed. Singer is hoping for a dismissal as his lawyers claim there is no legal basis for the suit, as Variety reports.

In May an unnamed British man - named John Doe 117 in the suit -came forward and accused Singer of assault. The man in question was represented by the same Lawyer, Jeffrey Herman, who was representing Michael Egan. Egan had also filed a suit against Singer, accusing him of assault in Hawaii in the late 1990s.

Egan was also suing Gary Goddard, a well known Broadway producer, and executives Garth Ancier and David Neuman. All four men accused have denied the allegations and Egan has withdrawn suits against Goddard, Ancier and Neuman. Singer is following in the footsteps of Goddard who was also listed in to John Doe 177 case. Goddard filed for dismissal last month.

This is the second case which accuses Singer and Goddard.

When the allegations first came to light, in April of this year, Singer's lawyers have maintained his innocence. They have further stated that they believe Herman has an alternative, money making motive behind the accusations. Marty Singer, who is representing Singer, called the allegations "totally untrue". As Vulture reports, he said "It is time for the media and public to focus their attention on Mr. Herman's nefarious motives and tactics which seem to be driven solely by his ?need to shake down an innocent man like Bryan Singer. We intend to seek sanctions against Mr. Herman for his ?reckless, unethical behaviour."

It seems likely Singer's lawyers will also file, as Ancier did last month, a case against Herman for malicious prosecution. In addition to the dismissal, Singer's lawyers are also requesting a $300,000 bond to cover Singer's legal fees.

Singer is best known as the director of X-Men.
