Irish singer SINEAD O'CONNOR has accused U.S. President GEORGE W. Bush of bringing Christianity "into disrepute". The Nothing Compares 2 U singer and former nun famously tore up a picture of the late Pope John Paul II on American TV, but now insists it's political figures who are giving religion a bad name. She says, "There's a lot that's beautiful about religion. It's just you get some nutters that misinterpret it. "Islam... you've got a very small bunch of fruitcakes... Same in the U.S.. you've got people like Bush bringing Christianity into disrepute." O'Connor, who's new album Theology is dedicated to love and peace, has recently become a Rastafarian.
