Busted don't want their new album to be ''too retro.''

The pop rock band, which is made up of Charlie Simpson, Matt Willis and James Bourne, are set to release their first single in 13 years called 'Night Driver', however guitarist Bourne is fearful the track will be too similar to their previous work and sound ''too throwback''.

Speaking to

Speaking to Digital Spy about the forthcoming hit, he said: ''I'm actually pleasantly surprised to hear you say it sounds current, because I was worried it sounded too throwback.''

And frontman Simpson, 31, added: ''That was something we were consciously doing: we didn't want it to sound too retro.

''We wanted to make it - not relevant and what's in the charts at the moment - just not too throwback to an old-school era.''

The 'Year 3000' hitmakers - who formed in 2000 and took a 10-year hiatus in 2005 - have revealed their music is influenced by chart-topping electronic producers Skrillex and Diplo for the new LP.

Simpson explained: ''We've all been talking about loving stuff that Skrillex and Diplo and what those guys have been doing, but it wasn't really like, 'Oh we want to sound like that'. Maybe that's what makes it sound like it's modern because we've taken influences from stuff that isn't what we used to be like, but what we enjoy listening to.''
