Caitlyn Jenner has paid tribute to her family and their emotional support as she accepted Glamour magazine’s ‘Trans Champion’ award at the publication’s 25th annual Women of the Year bash, and this support was demonstrated on the night by her daughter Kylie.

In a short video clip that preceded Caitlyn’s acceptance speech at the awards ceremony on Monday night (November 9th), Kylie Jenner opened up about how their close relationship had not changed since the news and Caitlyn’s transition back in April this year. “I was a little scared because I didn't know how much would change,” the 18 year old model and reality TV star admitted. “And it honestly feels like, besides appearance, nothing has changed.”

Jenner, 66, was recognised by the magazine for her advocacy work in the LGBT community. The Olympic gold medal winner announced her transition earlier this year, and created one of the news stories of 2015 with her front cover of Vanity Fair in May introducing herself as Caitlyn.

“She's lived an amazing life, and she's always done amazing things,” her daughter continued in the clip. “She's such a good role model for so many people, and I know she wants to do so much good with what she's doing.”

In her acceptance speech, Caitlyn acknowledged that support. “I am so blessed I have family. And not one of them has abandoned me; they've all been support of me. It's incredible,” she said.

“For years and years, I never felt like I fit in anywhere. I always felt as an outsider; I never felt good in the male side, and I wasn't obviously in the female side,” she added during her speech. “I was kind of stuck in the middle. But all of a sudden, after making these decisions and coming out, it was by far the best thing that I ever did.”

Detailing how she broke the big news to her nearest and dearest, she said: “I sat down with each one of my 10 children; and it was the big secret in the family that nobody could talk about because I was getting destroyed in the tabloids every week, walking through the grocery line, looking at the headlines. And so were my children. It was hurtful.”
