Globe-conquering DJ Calvin Harris is among the host of stars booked to play MTV’s Europe Music Awards ceremony in Glasgow next month. It’s set to be something of a homecoming for the 30 year old Scot, as well as some useful media exposure ahead of the release of his new album in November.

Also booked to perform at the ceremony, which will be broadcast live around the world, are the British pop sensation Charli XCX, the granite-hard rock duo Royal Blood who shot to Number 1 with their debut album back in August, and electro singer Kiesza.

The news was delivered via the artists’ social media accounts on Thursday morning. All of them will benefit commercially from such a huge opportunity, as the EMAs are broadcast across the entirety of MTV’s global network, giving a reach of over 700 million households.

The colourful hip-pop star Nicki Minaj is due to host the 2014 ceremony, which is held in Glasgow’s SSE Hydro at 9pm on Sunday 9th November. Black Sabbath lead singer Ozzy Osbourne, who has sold over 120 million albums worldwide with his band and as a solo artist, is set to be honoured with the Global Icon award.

As for Harris, the news caps off yet another gargantuan year for him. A month ago, he topped the UK singles chart for a fifth time with ‘Blame’ featuring John Newman. It was the first single from his fourth album Motion, which will be unleashed on November 4th.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Harris was the highest-earning DJ in the world for a second year running, scooping over $66 million over all revenue streams. He also became the first British solo artist to reach one billion streams on Spotify.
