The Almost Famous beauty, who arrived hand-in-hand with her actress mum Goldie Hawn, was presented with the Entrepreneur prize, in recognition of her company Fabletics, a fitness brand and membership programme which she co-founded in 2013.

During her acceptance speech, Hudson paid tribute to her famous mum for helping to pave the way for her to become a successful actress, businesswoman and mother.

Hudson said, "I grew up with an incredibly ambitious mother, but her ambition was for a greater purpose. In true Goldie form she was doing it for all women. We are all here together and we need to support each other, we need to create a support system. We are more powerful together."

Meanwhile, Scandal star Washington was presented with the International TV Actress prize from acclaimed shoe designer Christian Louboutin, and The Theory of Everything actress Felicity Jones was given the Film Actress prize.

Scottish DJ Calvin Harris was the only male to be handed a trophy, and upon receiving the Man of the Year prize, he told the audience, "My mum is going to be so impressed - I've never been to anything like this in my life. I feel like I should make the worst speech of the night, being the sole male speech."
