Cameron Diaz is convinced Simon Cowell was "wrong" to fire Cheryl Cole from the U.S. version of The X Factor.
The Hollywood beauty appears alongside Cole in upcoming movie What To Expect When You're Expecting, with the singer playing a music judge on a fictionalised TV talent show.
The British pop star appeared in a similar role on the U.K.'s The X Factor before Cowell axed her from the U.S. version last year (11) after she failed to make an impact on audiences and TV executives, but Diaz feels the music mogul made a mistake.
Appearing at the London premiere of the movie on Tuesday (22May12), she tells Associated Press, "She's so great, she's lovely. She had such a great energy. What she did was really a favour to us because there wasn't a lot for her to do, but there was a lot of ad-libbing. She just kept the energy up. She was a lot of fun."
Glee's Matthew Morrison, who also stars in the movie, says, "Going on how she was a judge on our show, I thought she was great. They had her ad lib a lot and she just came up with all these great lines. So I think they got it wrong," while Cameron adds, "Yeah, me too."
