Cara Delevingne has angered animal rights activists after her husky dog Leo was spotted wearing an anti-barking device, also known as a ‘pepper spray collar’. The dog was spotted wearing the collar on Friday, when he left Claridge’s hotel in London where the model has been staying.

The collar is activated when the dog barks above a certain decibel level and it automatically sprays the scent of citronella to stop further barking. They have become more common in recent years, as an alternative to electric shock collars.

Speaking to MailOnline, Lynn Barber, training and behaviour manager for the Dogs Trust charity, said: “At the Dogs Trust we don’t recommend the use of any adverse technique or equipment for any kind of behaviour issue.You have to find out the cause of the dog’s behaviour rather than punish it.”

Cara adopted Leo last year and he made his debut outing with the model in October. In January she sat with him front row at the Chanel Haute Couture Spring Summer 2016 show during Paris Fashion Week, where he stole the show.

In a recent interview with Wired Cara described Leo, who shares the same name as her star sign, as her “best friend”. The Suicide Squad actress is also mother to an adorable pet bunny named Cecil, who has his own dedicated Instagram account.
