“As soon as I got my first role I was like:, F--k it, I don’t care what people say,” model Cara Delevingne said in an interview with Time Out earlier this week. The 22 year old who stars in The Face Of An Angel is currently in the midst of a career transition and has no fewer than five acting projects lined up for this year. But does Cara have what it takes to make the difficult transition from runway to screen?

Cara DelevingneIs Cara Hollywood's next big thing?

“The first time I did Fashion Week, I was like: Right, I might as well give up on acting because I’m screwed,” Delevingne told Time Out. “When I finally got a serious role to audition for, I cried on the phone, I was so happy. Not even a film, just an audition.”

Despite modelling for some of the world’s biggest brands, acting is Delevingne’s real passion and the model has said her true ambitions always lay on the screen and not on the runway. Delevingne’s first screen role was a blink and you’ll miss it part in 2012's Anna Karenina, but three year’s later the model has bagged some much bigger roles.

Cara can currently be seen in The Face Of An Angel, a fictionalised version of the Amanda Knox story, directed by Michael Winterbottom. But while the film has failed to impress critics, Cara herself has left a lasting impression, with many reviewers singling out her performance.

“Cara Delevingne, displaying an unaffected, engaging screen presence,” wrote The Evening Standard’s Demetrious Matheou in his review. While our own Rich Cline said the 22 year old “shows terrific screen presence in her first major role, even if Melanie also has little impact on the story.”

Next for Cara is a starring role in Paper Towns, based on John Green’s popular young adult novel. The model stars in the film alongside The Fault In Our Stars' Nat Wolff, as a free spirited girl who sends her neighbour on a quest to find her after vanishing one night.

Delevingne also has a role in the upcoming London Fields, as a part of a cast which includes Billy Bob Thornton, Amber Heard, Jim Sturgess, Theo James and Johnny Depp. Next year Delevingne’s screen profile looks set to be raised even further, when she appears in supervillain collective movie Suicide Squad as Enchantress.

So does Cara have what it takes to make the difficult transition from runway to screen? Something tells us it wont be long before the 22 year old is being introduced as ‘former model’ Cara Delevingne.
