British actress Carey Mulligan developed a fear of horses after she was thrown by her mount while filming upcoming drama Far From The Madding Crowd.

The Great Gatsby star suffered concussion when she toppled from a steed just two weeks into filming the new adaptation of Thomas Hardy's classic novel, and still had to spend the remaining weeks of production on horseback.

The experience has put her off getting back in the saddle, and she tells London's Evening Standard, "I got really badly thrown off my horse when I was filming - we were only about two weeks in. I had a terrible concussion for about six weeks... I was riding throughout the film but I haven't got back on a horse since... I've developed a bit of a phobia."

The period drama will be released in May (15).
