Carmen Electra is ''happy'' Simon Cowell is starting his own family.

The media mogul's supermodel ex-girlfriend seems to have forgiven him for leaving her for Lauren Silverman - who is now pregnant with his baby.

The former Baywatch star caught Simon, 54, with the US socialite - who was married to his friend Andrew Silverman - earlier this year and was reportedly fuming when she ended their six-month romance.

However, she has now told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: ''I'm so happy he's filling his life with family. He's going to be a great dad.''

This echoes her thoughts earlier in the year when Carmen, 37, reminisced about their ''flirtatious friendship'' and insisted she is ''very proud'' of Simon.

She said: ''I'm so happy for him. I think people - all these rumours about us were swirling, there were so many - people didn't really know what they were talking about.

''Our relationship was a very flirtatious friendship. I'm very proud of him and so happy.''

She has also recently explained the 'X Factor' boss' experience with TV talent shows will help him with fatherhood.

She insisted: ''What I witnessed working with him on 'Britain's Got Talent' and coming to see him during 'X Factor' is that the people he truly believes in, he stands up for them and supports them.

''So I obviously think that his child will be very well taken care [of] and very, very loved.''
