Carrie Fisher is one of the old guard returning to Star Wars for J.J. Abram’s Episode VII, and she’s spoken of her delight at the gang getting back together, claiming that every old movie should be subject to a reunion or two.

Fisher told Wenn that she plans to get Leia "right this time" when she reprises the character that made her famous. "I looked a little pretentious faking the accent," she decided, according to The Guardian.

Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford will also return as Luke Skywalker and Han Solo respectively. "It is good to have us all in a room because it's unique. I mean, I don’t suppose they have reunions for the Gone With The Wind gang. I think people should be forced to do it 30 years on, classic films that they had, either to make another film or put together an anecdote,” explained Fisher. "We all look a little melted. It's good to see other melted people," she added, but we don’t know if she was talking about the intense Abu Dhabi heat or how much older they all are – probably the latter.

Episode VII has kicked off after the long awaited cast announcement finally took place. We’ve even been treated to a update or two from Abrams on set. But it won’t just be Episodes 7, 8 and 9 that expand the universe as we know it – Gareth Edwards is signed on to direct a spin off story set for release in 2016.

"Ever since I saw Star Wars I knew exactly what I wanted to do for the rest of my life – join the Rebel Alliance! I could not be more excited and honoured to go on this mission with Lucasfilm," said Edwards, who will follow up the Star Wars spin off with two Godzilla sequels.
