The official ‘Today’ Twitter feed released a picture of Daly holding his new baby on Thursday morning, and this was how the announcement was made to the wider world. The 41 year old and his fiancée Siri Pinter, a food blogger, are already parents to two children – Jackson James (5) and Etta Jones (2). They announced their engagement in June this year.

Only hours after the baby’s arrival, Daly made an appearance on the morning show via video link, saying “baby and Siri are right here, they are doing very well”. He also revealed the inspiration behind the name. “Rose was my grandma’s name … so we have a lot of family history in the names,” he said. “Even when little London came out, we were still throwing out our last-minute short list, and London Rose Daly was the one.”

Back in March, Daly announced on the show itself that his family was expanding, saying “For years my mom was like, ‘When are you going to have a kid?’ And now she’s like, ‘Slow down!’ ” he joked.

He’s known for being a family-orientated man, telling People magazine back in January “I’m a family man first and foremost. Everything I do in this business, it all pays off when I come home.”

Daly’s ‘Today’ show colleague Savannah Guthrie gave birth to her own daughter only last week, so there’s bound to be tales of tiredness abounding on set in the coming months.
