Universal Pictures, Screen Yorkshire and DJ Films have released a series of images that give the very first look onto the set of the forthcoming 'Dad's Army' movie, based on the classic British comedy series of the same name that aired on BBC from 1968 to 1977.

The movie, currently being filmed in the county of Yorkshire, stars a stellar cast that includes Bill Nighy, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Toby Jones, Tom Courtenay, Michael Gambon and many more, and is directed by the BAFTA nominated Oliver Parker.

The plot is set during World War II in 1944 and focuses on the home guard based in Walmington-on-Sea, who are tasked with patrolling the Dover army base as the allies are poised to invade France and finally defeat the German army.
But the men are suddenly starlet at the arrival of the beautiful journalist Rose Winters (Zeta Jones), who has joined them to write about their daily exploits. However, the men of the home front suddenly find themselves in a much more critical role as a signal sent to direct to Berlin from Walmington-on-Sea is discovered by MI5, and it is up to them to find the spy.

The first image released shows the main cast headed by Jones, who plays Captain Mainwaring, surrounded by his comrades patrolling the country roads surrounding the base. Zeta Jones is also featured looking very glamorous arriving at the site, to the astonishment of the veteran servicemen.

The feature film, which began production earlier this month, was penned by Hamish McColl and produced by Damian Jones. The original series ran for 9 seasons in total and regularly earned 18 million viewers, it is still being shown around the world today.
